Del, what are the numbers on your panasonic, I mean what TZ XX is it please?

I'm sort of thinking that it might be cheaper to just get a new camera, in order to resolve this dirty lens problem on my one. It appears to be some light hairs on the inside of the camera, - I don't fancy trying to take it apart really.

Have seen a TZ 55 that is a Panasonic refurb for £89 ? (Which is probably comparable to sending my camera away to be cleaned?)

Thanks mate, the 55 doesn't seem to have many more 'whizz-bang' gadgets over the 30, same zoom etc, a few more pixels, but at £89 looks like a bargain.

Just not sure whether to send mine off for a 'service'? As I'm quite happy with it, the sort of snapshots I take.

The sunrise one I recently shot wouldn't be much better with a camera costing £500 more IMO.

yes difficult that one £89 is probably not that far from a repair, I think I would go for the new one which has perhaps a bit more. You can always keep your old one to perhaps repair later if you were really uphappy with the new one.

Love the way the front waves have caught the sun at the back of them

Yeah I've been looking at it tonight, with a magnifying glass, it does appear that the front of the lens has got some very minor 'chips' or scratches on it, on the outside I mean, can't see that there'd be a resolution to that except change the lens Crying or Very sad

may be a bit of sand has got in on a blowy day

trouble is we can't protect the lens from that, with the SLR we had a cover protection lens to save that happening

Well I've just thoroughly cleaned the lens, (the outside), I used one of those spectacles cleaning wipes (like a wet wipe) it has a mild solution impregnated in the cloth, and this is the result:

They are almost microscopic to the eye on the actual camera, but obviously show up clearly when you transfer the pics to the pc screen Crying or Very sad

Can you see Del, in the two pics i've posted (on this thread, the sunrise one and the plain one) that in the top left hand corner, there is a sort of 'short and curly' ?

So I can't shift that from external cleaning. Crying or Very sad

The other 'scratches' are masked by the waves in the sunrise pic.

Oh I've just gone and bought the £89 one that I linked in the OP lol!

I do things on impulse like that Very Happy

Couldn't help but notice this little bargain though...

Quite a lot of spec for the price.

New camera came today, looks brand new, no sign of it being a refurb.
Had a quick spin, seems ok and easy to use.
Bit annoying that the batteries aren't interchangeable between my first one Rolling Eyes

Del, so how does this sunrise pic compare to what has been said at your camera club?

I mean about putting something in the foreground to give it scope type thing.

Only one sunset has been put into the competition so far Mark, they had a tree stuck in the way and the judge said it was a distraction and not needed, however, there was a bush on the side that would have been adequate.

I knew it would be wrong before the judge said anything, as it just didn't look right. I have about 6 sunset pictures in my stock and sunset theme is not in this years competition, so may enter one in the open section.

I have two yachts with the sun dropping between two masts which could be a goer lol but will have to see but I think it has to be something special to grab the judges eye. The reflection of the sun in that front wave is good and some thing different.

I have a picture of a rock with a eye hole in it, now if I can line the sun up through that hole this year it could turn into a new Indiana Jones film lol!

Ha ha lol! I think i've seen some pics of stonehenge with a similar 'sun through the keyhole' theme Very Happy so it must be acceptable.

yes it's just getting something that is out of the ordinary, I even tried to get my finger and thumb to look as if it was holding the sun but my camera put the thumb and finger out of focus but a play with the camera it could come righr

I was trying to get the colours on the waves literally as the sun came up, but it just wasn't moody enough, not enough hue.

Well if there was any sort of natural colour I would try and enhance it, but it was still 'night' really as the sun was coming up lol
