Hi today is the day the new no smoking ban starts in mallorca in line with the rest of Europe .so we will have to see what effect is has on trade,businesses and tourists

hows the smoking ban doing we are in magalluf in june usually sit outside piano bar, my mother needs her niqotine fix doesnt effect me and my hubby both non-smokers i was just wondering how strict it will be vickie

So the piano bar would qualify .......

Can the next person to fly out from PMI confirm whether the airside smoking room within the terminal is still there/allowed please?

My friend who lives out there went back after christmas & I asked her to look, she said they had gone when she went thru last sunday.

The ban was also on out in Fuerteventura, although many bars 'overspill' onto the pavement, and you can still smoke there.
We also went to a Chinese restaurant that had a half in/half out seating plan and you could smoke on the outside bit.

This answers alot of questions regarding smoking ban.

Not that many on the Forum or our partners smoke I believe, so it won't affect the meet up that much, probably only 4 or 5 people. But we will be sitting outside, so it doesn't matter that much.

Fuerteventura airport has a smoking area inside, within the terminal, 'airside', but it has an open roof space. It's quite large and has tables and chairs for eating, say about 40 metres square area. About 50 tables.
People were eating there.

Quite annoying for me cos I like to smoke cigars when i'm drinking.

According to that site Mark, the smoking rooms have gone from Palma airport, which is a pain as I used to pop in there on route to collect baggage. I didn't mind if we were a bit delayed coming home either cos at least I could have a smoke while waiting

The open air smoking area above the road is still there, but that's before the security area.

Exactly, then once through you see the board says delayed, just like always seems to happen to us at Gatwick but we all know what the security is like at Palma, zig zagging for half a mile before getting anywhere

A couple of times when we've gone to Benidorm in recent years, via Alicante, there's aren't any smoking areas 'airside' there... so people were just smoking in the corner of one section (I think it might have used to be the smoking area).
Even the cleaners lol

Point of interest, - massive fines for bar owners etc, - what about the airport 'owners' if people flout and smoke there?
