PostSubject: Blog of the Selsey weekend   Mon Apr 18, 2011 7:52 pm

As Jan works early evenings, getting home about 7.45, we don’t get to leave until 8pm ish, but we was all packed and ready and left at 7.57… by 9.15 I was putting the key in the door down at Selsey. A quick unpack, and we was in the bar by 9.50, as the bar is open till 1.00 am the time isn’t a problem.
At 10 pm the second act of the night came on, surprise surprise, it was Rod Stewart!

So an enjoyable evening was had.
Got up the next morning and done ourselves a fry up, then jumped on the pushbikes for a quick whizz up to town,

Came back and had a spin around the site, checked out that the outdoor pool was now open…

There’s also been a mini ice rink opened… I couldn’t take pictures of it because there were kids skating on it. Site has a rule of no picture taking of kids. What a sad world we’ve let this place become Sad
Line dancing for an hour at 1pm, couple of pints, back for a kip, in the evening we went to a different bar where the 90’s group ‘Incognito’ were the main act.

We didn’t actually find them very good (swing jazz) they were good but not our music, too repetitive. Was home by midnight.
Woke to glorious sunshine Sunday morning, so kippers for breakfast, and the bikes were out again. This time we headed for the main building…

With views down to Portsmouth…

And started cycling in the opposite direction, along the sea wall, around Selsey Bill, heading towards Bognor Regis.

The view backwards after about a mile (main building has got a blue roof)

About half way we just stopped and sat on the shore, watching the waves come in.

We set foot (pedal) again, taking in the sights of the fisherman’s lobster pots all set out by their boats, as we approached the lifeboat launch ramp.

Just past the ramp, we sat again…

And this was the view in front of us…

A little further on, and there are a clutch of small stalls of fresh caught fish, we often sit and have a cup of tea at this point (about half way) with a mixed platter of crab, prawns, whelks, etc, with a few slices of brown bread… £12.

On the way back, there is a local pond that we always stop at, to feed the ducks, although there’s often more seagulls there than ducks!

It’s simple really, but good to get away just for a couple of days, especially in the warm spring sunshine. It reached about 20 on Sunday.

A great weekend then Mark, the guy in the picture looked more like Rod Stewart than the guy we saw at Ruby's. It's good idea having the bikes
to get around you can cover alot of distance. The weather couldn't have been better by the pictures, just yesterday's football result to spoilt it.

Nice pictures mate loved them. As for the pictures regarding children yes it is a shame, even when we are on holiday with
our 13 year old daughter I feel so paranoid taking photos of her in the pool incase people think Im upto no good how sad is that.

A very interesting read Mark.I thought the Rod Stewart takeoff guy in Majorca very good indeed.Saw him at Hotel Alicia in Cala Bona.He was due to be on Palms in Pto Pollensa the night after we flew back during the day which was a shame as we would both liked to see him again. As for Incognito-maybe that is how they shoud remain- "Incognito"! Very Happy

You both look very relaxed and happy in those snaps.
