| Just out of curiosity I had a look on Travel Republic at the prices for the hotels we all recognise for early August 2 weeks ACCOMMODATION-ONLY ie without flights and transfers. Not good for DIY own package builders.Eg Sol Mirlos/Tordos Saturday arrivals and departures (the most expensive) just under £2,000 All Inclusive for 2 per room.Sol Guadalupe HB £1,800.Son Matias (adults-only) HB over £2,000.By my reckoning for a family of M&D and 2 kids, flights and transfers who have left it late to book that is coming in at £5,500.Some serious money being made out of people who haven't had the foresight to book packages/flights as soon as the prices were released.I am shocked |

| If you want to book a caravan on the site i'm on, Bunn Leisure at Selsey, they are charging (direct bookings, owners are cheaper) £800 a week during August for a 2 bed sleep 6 Gold level caravan... so it's £1,600 just to stay at home for 2 weeks in the summer holidays. |

| Mark.Is that Bunn Leisure who I have not heard of or Bourne Leisure who have holiday interests, hotels, caravans all over UK?And quite honestly £1600 before you have paid for any food, drink or onsite entertainment for the kids is making Sol M/T look quite appealing even at those robbing prices.. |

| Well I know exactly what your talking about, we have been out today looking at holidays and came back with nothing, we wanted 2 weeks this time round but the accomodation they were showing me was crap and not one under £2500 for canaries, Ive come home and travel republic seem to be the best for sure, the same price but better accomodation 4star instead of 3star's. We are still looking and wondering waht to do lol. I cannot warrant paying over £2500 for 2 weeks, we paid £2000 last year and that was the most Ive ever paid and it shocked me then. Ill keep looking but defo dont want to pay that much. _________________ Anyone need a taxi hehehe |

| It was around the 6th August 2 weeks A/I I would rather stay home than pay that. They asked us if we could go 1 week before the kids broke up and it would save us £300 what a rip off they just hit families at shool holiday times _________________ Anyone need a taxi hehehe |

| It's surprising really that Canaries are well-priced for our summer peak season. In winter they don't have as much competition but in summer mainland Spain can rob them of UK tourists because of the shorter/cheaper flights.I have been to Gran Canaria,Lanzarote,Fuerteventura and (only on a cruise visit,Tenerife).I liked Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and Corralejo in Fuerteventura. But I suspect the latter might not have enough action for most forum members. |

Thanks for trying mate ,believe me Ive been at it for the last 2 months and Im surprised they are charging as much after the slump last year, Ill keep watching and if need be try for a cancellation closer to the time, and if not the lakes here I come lol.

| Just looked on Thomson's website. In under 2 minutes found this. I'm sure with a bit of research you could get better. Great location, Nice hotel, half board for 2,400 quid, and all inclusive for under 2,800.00, that's for a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 weeks, including transfers peak season. So for instance, compared to the caravan in the UK, the All inclusive option, works out 21 quid a day more per person, and that includes all food , (and the food there is good,) and drinks, entertainment, a pool, guaranteed sunshine and a beautiful beach right on the doorstep. I know which I'd rather do | Quote: | Santa Lucia Hotel
in Palma Nova, Majorca Best location in Palma Nova All rooms have sea view Guests return year after year 9 and 12 nights
Per person£603 Total price£2,411 Includes web saving-£748 Deposit £175pp Tue 09 Aug 11, 7 nights Manchester flights 2 x Twin room Half Board Coach transfer included Also available: All Inclusive £694 |
