PostSubject: Cala Vinyes, Cala Cap Falco   Fri Aug 27, 2010 3:11 am

Well this is a really tiny report on a resort called Cala Vinyes ,I decided to have a look up some hills in a direction Ive not explored before ,I looked on the map and seen there was this resort so set off up past the Sol Antillas and kept walking, there were a few little housing complexes and apartments along the way but little else ,I eventually came across the sign for Cala Vinyes and proceeded to walk in the direction it was pointing at, I came across a few hotels one bar and a restaurant and thought that was it but then came across a steep set of stone steps leading down to a very small cove,

At first I got excited finding a new place within walking distance of Magalluf
[u]
I got my camera out and started snapping away.

I got these 4 photos of the little cove with a few hotels and apartments dotted around it and walked up the very small beach which had a bar at the top of it and seen there was a little dirt path so because there was nothing else to see and I had taking all the photos I could covering the whole cove I decided to carry on.

When I got to the top of the dirt track I was back on the very long and boring windy hilly road that I had been walking up for ages so thought no there must be something else so proceeded up the hill wishing I had got a cold drink on that beach first lol.

Then I seen this sign and this sparked me up again for the climb, I must have lost 4 stone because I was feeling very agile now or was it agitated lol

I walked and walked and then found out what this place was, it was just a hill with posh homes at the top of it ,mind they were really impressive but the surrounding were not, just lots of waste land I was very disappointed but thought it would be nice to show you a couple of the homes and also how high up I had walked.

This home will be impressive when its finished

Here you can sea Black Lizard Island just off Magalluf Beach on my walk back down and thank god it was all down hill lol

Well Im sorry it aint an exciting review but at least its another resort you have seen. Would it be for me, NO definitely not if the coach pulled up here it would be the worst holiday nightmare for me as I would be bored stiff. But it might be great for you I dont know. What can I say blink and you would miss it. I walked all the way back as not one taxi passed and I didnt get a drink until I got closer to the sol Antillas I was choking lol. I met up with moocher about an hour after I got back from this walk and I was feeling it I can tell ya, I must remember not to wear them flipflops when going on long walks lol.

When I stay at the Antillas i've often wandered what was further along up the hill, and thought I must walk it one time - but never got round to it !
Thanks for saving my legs!
The views look fab - and some of those houses - stunning. Bet you were just hoping that around any corner you would see a bar !

Well I did enjoy your review Daryn and I had a good chuckle as I was not expecting your ending. It was like a clip from the TV prisoner series bounce where you were trying to escape with the signs leading you back to the same place.bounce

I trod in Daryn’s flip-flops and found the secret Bay.

It was a dull day, so Lyn and I decided to walk to the other end of Malaluf and beyond, not realising we were treading in Daryn’s footsteps and doing the same walk as he did some time ago.

We started with a coffee in a small cafe at the end of Magaluf beach, it was the best coffee we had had a week.

Having finished our coffees, we worked our way along the path along the coast’s edge before heading up to the road. We noticed part of the underneath of the path had worn completely away and held up by tree roots only, over the side was a bit precarious too with a 20 foot drop but we both made it.

At the top of the road the sign posted to Cala Vinyas and Cala Cap giving us a choice of either and then Daryn’s review came to mind. We picked Cala Cap to walk but the road was very open and it had just started to rain so we turned back and shelter under a tree. Cala Vinyas looked more developed so after it stopped raining we headed that way.

This place seemed to be very upmarket resident’s area, with many gated houses.

We reached a large hotel called Cala Vinas and found a small alley way down the side which we took. It opened up to a small bay called Playa Cala Vinas; I got excited at this point not remembering that Daryn had already found this on his walk.

I counted nine hotels around this bay and looked at about 50 chair beds available. We could eat at some of the hotels who had open restaurants to the public.

I snapped a number of pictures before taking some steps up the other side of the bay. Apart from a small supermarket there was no further facilities around.

We went around in a large loop hardly ever seeing a car and finally ending back at Cala Vinas where there were about half a dozen cafe/restaurants.

On the way back we had a text from Mick and we met up with Sandra and Mick in Tom Brown’s cafe on the beach.

The walk last 4 hours and only down to the bay was worth it, unless you like walking.

I think i've been up that way, but was in a car, and didn't find that beach/cove. Is there a casino up there?

We never saw one but of course there may be one in one of the hotels. The cove is accessable down the side of the Hotel Vinas which has a side
way with steps that you would think is part of the hotels side entrance.

It didn't dawn on me until I saw that sign and i said to my wife i'm sure Daryn was here but I couldn't recall you finding the bay on your
review (memory problem) so got quite excited that i found something but apart from that there is nothing.

Lets hope the others can remember having read it again. lol!

The four hour walk was healthy though to get rid of those breakfasts.

Well we hired some pushbikes and took a ride up to here, we was absolutely whacked by the time we got there as it was a really hot day, and there are some monstrous hills to negotiate on the way there.
Still, it looks a nice nearby retreat from magalluf.
The journey back was fantastic though, once out of Cala Vinyes One way system there was just a small hill and the rest was all downhill, right down to the reception area of Sol barbados Very Happy
